Obituary of Theodore "Ted" Empson

Theodore “Ted” Empson, 86, of Rockledge, Florida, humbly passed away on June 14, 2023, after living a life dedicated to serving others and loving the Lord. Ted was born on August 29, 1936, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Martha and George Empson. After serving in the Navy from 1954 to 1957, Ted became a missionary in 1988, spreading the love of Christ to people all over the US and the world.

Ted's life was a testament to his deep gratitude for all of creation, and his respect for all of God's children. He believed in the power of faith to heal and bring people together. Ted had a kind heart and a servant's spirit, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear to anyone in need. His love for his family and friends was boundless, particularly for his wife Linda Empson, who was his partner in life and ministry.

Ted was a man of many talents and interests, but his greatest joy was in spending time outdoors, fishing, and admiring the beauty of nature. He also enjoyed building model airplanes, painting, and collecting model antique cars. Ted's hobbies were a reflection of his creativity and his appreciation for the wonders of the world.

Ted is survived by his beloved wife Linda Empson. His sons Ted Empson (wife: Rebecca, grandchildren: Alexis Adams-Empson, Anderson Colburn, Evan Colburn, Annelise Colburn), Eric Empson (wife: Ivey Jiggens, grandchildren: Caley Ettinger (husband Sean, great grandchild: Julian Ettinger), Evan Empson and Evelyn Empson), Shawn Empson (wife: Melissa, grandchildren: Amy Empson and Shawn Empson).  His stepsons Brian Mellert (wife: Tammy), Eric Mellert (wife: Shannon, grandchildren: Benjamin Mellert, Jonathan Mellert, Christopher Mellert, and Zachary Mellert). Ted was preceded in death by his mother Martha, father George, sisters Jane Angel and Judith Oldham, and daughters Heather Empson and Amy Empson.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 26 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Freedom Christian Center, 7250 Lake Andrew Dr. Melbourne, FL 32940, where Ted worshiped and found strength in his faith. The service will be a celebration of Ted's life and the love he shared with so many.

The final interment will be at a later date at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, where Ted will be laid to rest with honor and respect for his service to our country. Ted's legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished for generations to come.
