Obituary of Wendy Jayne Whitney
Wendy Jayne Whitney, 78, of Rockledge, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.
Wendy was born August 30, 1944, in Canandaigua, NY to Franklin and Helen Seaman. She and her parents moved to Rockledge from Canandaigua during her high school years. Wendy graduated from Cocoa High School and went on to have various jobs, ultimately landing in her dream job working as an Administrative Assistant for Circles of Care. After retiring, she spent her time working at the Brevard Historical Library where she enjoyed sorting through and organizing articles and photos of the past in Brevard County.
Wendy met and married John Lenard Whitney in March, 1977. Although they did not have children together, they brought together a rather large blended family of his and hers. Wendy was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, her parents, and her sister Susan Turner. She is survived by her daughter Anita Whitney, son Spencer Brintle, daughter Gerri (Tracy) White, son Pat (Billie Jo) Whitney, son Paul Moon, son Chuck Moon, daughter Chrissy Whitney, her sisters Judy (Ed) Lee, Sandy (David) Shoemaker, 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Wendy deeply loved her large family and always made sure that everyone felt equally included and loved.
Wendy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she had many wonderful friends who took time to make sure that she and John were well cared for. A special thank you goes to her friend Carol Burkott. Carol was always there for Wendy, even sometimes when she wanted to be left alone, to make sure that all of her needs were met. Carol was a special friend anyone would be lucky to have. A special thank you goes to her from Wendy’s family. A special thank you goes to several members of her church who cared for her and John over the years, especially in the latter years of their lives.
Wendy had a special place in her heart for military veterans, as her husband was one as well as her son Spencer, and her grandson Kyle who still serves in the Air Force.
There will be a service to honor Wendy on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rockledge. She will be interred at the Canaveral National Cemetery at a later date and will be placed beside her husband.
