Obituary of Otis Marion Christensen

Otis Marion Christensen, 98, of Titusville Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2023. 

Otis Christensen is preceded in death by his wife, Ouida Christensen. Otis married Ouida in 1947 and shared 53 wonderful years together before Ouida’s death in 2002. Otis is survived by his 3 children: Victor Christensen (Anna), Carol Valdes (Frank), and Chris Christensen (Carol Anne). Also survived by 4 grandchildren: Annika, Lucy, Lily, and Andie; 6 great-grandchildren: Mason, Camellia, Blaze, Alabaster, Asher, and Isaiah. 

At the age of 18, Otis was drafted into the United States Army in 1943 during World War II and served in the 3rd Infantry. He received numerous medals for his service, including 2 purple hearts. 

When Otis returned from the war in 1946, he decided to start a nursery business. With his passion and admiration of plants and flowers, he ran a successful garden center and nursery for 30 years. He continued to grow plants and flowers and enjoyed working in his backyard for as long as he lived. 

Otis was a beloved Dad and Papa. He was a kind and thoughtful soul who will be missed and remembered by the many lives that he touched. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, at 1:00 pm, Lake Shore United Methodist, 2246 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210. Otis will be interred Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery at 3 pm 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205 with Army honors.
