Obituary of Kenneth (Ken) Greene
Kenneth (Ken) Greene 71 Former Palm Bay City Councilman passed away on March 6, 2023, while in the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center, Miami, FL
Ken was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 10, 1951. He graduated from Pilgrim High School, in Warwick RI in 1971. Upon graduation, he immediately joined the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at the Marine Corps Finance Center, Kansas City, Mo until 1974.
In March of 1982, he married Mary Thibert with whom he just celebrated his 41st anniversary. They had one child, a daughter Georgianna Greene.
The family relocated to Palm Bay in October of 1989. While here Ken worked as a clammer, welder, and driver for Florida Today, and finally for C.C.S.I. John's Island, Vero Beach until his retirement on January 6, 2023.
Some of his proudest moments were being elected to the Palm Bay City Council for which he served his 1st term from 2001 - 2004, and was then re-elected from 2010 -2014.
Ken was very active throughout the state, county, and city. He was a very active member of Our Lady of Grace Church where he was involved in numerous ministries including St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a founding member of the Sunday Shower Ministry at Daily Bread in Melbourne. Over the years he also volunteered at Port Malabar Elementary, the PBYAA as a Cheer Dad, and Citrus Council of Girl Scouts as an Assistant Troop Leader. He was a Lifelong member of the DAV, a past member of the DVCofFL, Dem. Disability Caucus of FL, Brevard Democratic Executive Committee, Brevard Democratic Veterans Caucus, Brevard Democratic Disability Caucus, and a current member of the South Brevard Democratic Womens Club.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank Greene and Helen (Kelley) Greene. He is survived by his wife Mary (Thibert) Greene, daughter Georgianna Greene, and grandchildren Christian, Joe, and Avelina.
A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 300 Malabar Rd, Palm Bay on Monday, March 27 @ 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial to follow @ 11am. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will be at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetary in Mims with full Military Honors at 2:30.
