Obituary of Wayne Alfred Burgess
Wayne Alfred Burgess was born September 21st in 1940 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Alfred and Elizabeth Hammett Burgess. Wayne was the eldest son of three children, sister Adrienne and brother Kenneth. Wayne served in the military in the Army Reserves. He was a veteran but left services to attend college. After the military, he met his would-be wife, May E. Gondelli in New Jersey as he started college.
Upon graduation from Rutgers University, he was employed by First Pennsylvania Bank in Philadelphia. Their children, Guy Anthony, Alyson (Jovi Medic), and Adrienne Elizabeth were born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the later born in Abington, PA. The family later moved to Winchester, MA where Wayne worked for Shawmut Bank, as Vice-President, Lending Officer. Later, they moved to Melbourne Beach, Florida in 1980. May and Wayne remained in Brevard County until his death on February 27, 2023.
Wayne loved playing tennis, often seen at the Melbourne Beach courts with fellow players. He was an avid reader, renovated many homes over the course of his life, and enjoyed his privacy and nature. Always loved his own pets, Buddy and KitKat and all wildlife. Later, after retirement, he found joy in landscaping and home improvement projects. Also, he enjoyed visits from his granddaughter Eva D. Medic. He is survived by his wife, daughters, son, son-in-law, granddaughter, brother, and sister, plus their spouses, and children. He will be greatly missed by his family.
