Obituary of Colin Amos Joseph

Colin Amos Joseph, loving and dedicated husband, father of three, devoted grandfather of five, and friend to many – was called home to the Lord on February 24, 2023, at the age of 79 in Palm Bay, Florida.  

Colin was born on January 10, 1944, to Eric and Marie Joseph in Georgetown, Guyana, SA and was one of thirteen offspring. It was in Georgetown where he met his soon-to-be-wife Pamela, they married and had two children. Not long after, they immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s and settled with his wife in New York at a young age. They had another child and raised their family in various parts of the Tri-State area, as well as Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Colin studied and mastered printing as a young man. Throughout his vocation, Colin was heralded for his impressive print work which enabled him to enjoy a lengthy career. 

Colin and Pam moved to Florida in 1994 where Colin explored and expanded his love of gardening. His front yard was the talk of the neighborhood and envied by many as Colin poured his heart and soul into the dirt to help his garden and lawn thrive. He was quick to extend his kindness to all of his neighbors and offer assistance to any and all who needed it.   

After retirement, Colin enjoyed a more quiet life where he mostly tended to his garden/lawn or ran simple errands with Pam. His love of cooking was well known amongst his inner circle. Ever the avid chef, he continued to cook incredible meals for his family. Colin was a man who exhibited strength, great love and pride in his family and their accomplishments. His happiest moments involved simply staying home, speaking to his family, and enjoying his retirement. He was – in a word – amazing. 

Colin was preceded in death by his parents Eric and Marie, as well as his elder sisters Yvette and Norma, and his older brother Julian. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, their children: eldest daughter Marcia and husband Warren in Fort Lauderdale, son Colin in New York, and youngest daughter Shareen and husband Nelson in New Jersey, and his five grandchildren – Reina, William, Rhyse, Jayden and Matthias. He leaves behind his remaining siblings Wilbert, Morton, Claudette, Hubert, Cedric, Vernon, Edwin, Tessa and Annette, brothers- and sisters-in-laws, a host of nieces and nephews and many other extended family members, friends and neighbors.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 3:00pm – 7:00pm at Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay, FL 32907. The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5530 Babcock Street NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905, with a final viewing from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at the church.  

Colin will be cremated and there will not be a traditional burial to follow.
