Obituary of Asher Winston

Every day the sun rises and sets but it now has a brighter glow for the Family and Friends of Asher Daniel Winston whom, at 17, gained his Angel Wings on December 20, 2022. In the blink of an eye, Jesus's outstretched arms welcomed him Home as they walked together into the beautiful light of Heaven.

Asher's light blessed earth on August 16, 2005. He was born in Hilton Head, South Carolina and moved to Brevard County, Florida with his parents and brother, Sebastian in 2009 making Melbourne their home.

He attended Suntree Elementary, Viera Charter School and Viera High School. Asher's early childhood creative passions were singing and writing, which he came to combine beautifully in songwriting, along with writing various themed fiction stories, informational pieces and poems. Asher gained a love for Chorus and then moved on to a new passion in middle school and high school...musical theater. His voice was phenomenal to say the least and music was therapy for Asher. He loved to play his acoustic guitar and his drums as well. Asher's favorite sport was soccer and he played with various Brevard leagues throughout his life. He also enjoyed nature walks in his neighborhood, beach walks, collecting shells, spending time with friends, ice skating, rollerblading in the local parks, art projects, video production, family trips, and "family dinners" watching TV and playing board games, many of which he had created himself. Asher also found joy in helping feed the homeless in our community in a variety of creative and loving ways. His compassion for others was immense. Asher absolutely adored his kitty, Chase (a.k.a. 'Lil Face) and his rabbit, Hunter and had a special love for animals.

** As a member of East Coast Viera “TNT” youth group and band, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and group leaders weekly. He also had a lot of fun times meeting up with his teen group and Dr. Joe of Brevard Autism Coalition hanging out at various places around town.

As an abstract artist, Asher created many unique paintings and one of a kind pieces using various mediums and styles. Loving all things science & nature, especially the beach and the ocean, he loved making "shell art" using shells that he and his mom picked up on their beach walks together. Asher also had several unique interests including a fascination with names, "memorizing talents" and even created his own alphabet with custom symbols that he could read and write in fluently. Asher's favorite word was "Sonder".

Waiting to join Asher one day are his devoted mother-Chrissy Lasby Winston, father-Ian Winston, brother-Sebastian Winston (USAF) and sister in law- Taylor Cheatham-Winston, Paternal Great Grandparents- Alma and Raymond, Maternal Grandparents- Rich and Diane and Paternal Grandmother- Liz. Asher's Aunts and Uncles are Shane, Melanie, Kim, Adam, Aaron, Pam, Heather, Brian, Ella, Nick, Mindy, Nate, Christine, Ramon and Erica. His Cousin are Kendal, Greyson, Kate, Nina, Brandon, Gavin, Annie, Tyler and Ellie. Asher also had many Great Uncles and Aunts and several Second Cousins as well.

Asher's physical presence will forever be missed from our eyes, but his strong, caring and compassionate spirit will always be here with us to help light our way. He is pure light.

A Celebration of Life Service/Tribute is being held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:30pm at East Coast Church - Viera, 3475 Viera Blvd, Melbourne, Fl 32940. Please join us if you can, dress is "casual" or "dressy"...your choice.
