Obituary of Ma Victoria Barredo Parguian
Ma Victoria Barredo Parguian was given her wings on Friday, November 25th, 2022, after bravely facing and fighting the aggressive assaults of breast cancer. Throughout her battle, she carried on a bright, and contagious smile, never wanting to worry her family even to her last moments.
Marivic was born on August 28th, 1972 in Alliaga, Nueva Ecija, and was raised in Paranaque City, Philippines by her loving parents, Jovito, Sr. and Victoria Barredo. She was the eldest of four siblings, and took on her role of being an "Ate" (big sister) exceptionally.
Marivic worked as an assistant secretary at AFCI Freight Forwarding Company, whilst being a student at PATTS College of Aeronautics, and earned her degree of Bachelor of Science in Airline Business Administration. It was at this school where she met the love of her life, Jon, and their inseparable bond started. After graduation, she became a Sales Director at Confederated Cargo Services, Inc. while studying to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Olivares College. Upon completing her nursing degree and successfully passing the Philippine Nursing Board Exam, she then migrated to the United States of America in 2007 to build a life together with her husband, establishing their first home in Palm Bay, Florida. She enjoyed traveling with her partner of 30 years, to many different parts of the country in her favorite car she named "Pinky," or going to different countries via air or cruise, touring some parts of Asia and South America, as well as seven countries in Europe, as her 50th birthday gift to her husband.
Victoria, as she became known to her friends here in the US, took on her profession as a Registered Nurse in America with zest, caring for her patients with compassion and empathy, emanating a calm and collected demeanor in times of crisis, to put her patients at ease. A true hero, she faced the challenges of the Covid pandemic with bravery, and adaptability, traveling to far away places where her nursing skills were in dire need. But despite the difficulties her work as a nurse entailed, she has turned her career as an opportunity to meet people, as she loved making friends. Everyone who knew Victoria knows how she easily made friends no matter where she went, whether they were patients at her workplace, co-workers, or random people she came across with at grocery stores, due to her light and comedic energy. She was always willing to listen to people with a ready ear, making others feel comfortable in her company without fail. Aside from making friends, she also loved singing, dancing, working out, and watching k-drama and comedy shows alongside her husband and family. She made the best Korean Japchae and was fond of cooking on her free time. She was the life of every party, never failing to miss an opportunity to belt out her favorite songs by Celine Dion and "Dancing Queen" by ABBA.
Marivic is predeceased by her sister Maria Esperanza, and her mother Vicky. She is a beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and nurse, who will be sorely missed by her father Jovito, Sr., her brother Jovito, Jr., and her youngest sister Mariquet, and her loving husband Jon; as well as her many brothers- and sisters- in- law, nieces and nephews, cousins, uncles and aunties, along with her extensive list of friends. Memories of her life and the loving relationships she formed are forever etched in each and every one's heart.
The family will hold a viewing/wake service on Saturday & Sunday, December 17th & 18th, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a mass at 2:15 pm on Saturday, and 6:30 pm on Sunday, at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care located at 1001 Hickory St., Melbourne, FL 32901. She will then make her final journey back to the Philippines, to be laid to rest at Golden Haven Memorial Chapels and Crematorium.
A GoFundMe was established for the family to help with medical expenses and funeral costs under "Ma Victoria Barredo Parguian."
