Obituary of Mildred Heithaus
Midred (Millie) Heithaus peacefully passed away Sept. 16th. Born July 16th, 1937 in Hatchbend, Florida; she is survived by her husband of 65 years, William (Bill) Heithaus; her two brothers Harold Lindsey and Ben Lindsey; a host of cousings, nieces and nephews; three daughters Susan Delrusso, Diana Worden, and Karen Ludeman; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Booger.
Millie grew up working long days in tobacco fields on her parents' farm, eating watermelon on the vine and swimming in the springs of north Florida. She met Bill on Jacksonville Beach, married, and lived her entire life in Florida. After being a stay-at-home mother for many years, Millie returned to school to become a cosmetologist. While living in Clearwater, she became known for doing great comb outs and intricate braids, often being asked to do hair for fashion shows. After 15 years, Millie retired to spend more time with her grandchildren. She could oftern be found playing with them in the pool, or jumping with them on a trampoline, and even teaching them country line dances on the driveway. In her spare time, Millie was passionate about growing flowers. Big splashy bright flowers of all kinds. No matter where she lived over the years her house was the house with the flowers. She loved to mow, even in her 80s, and said she never felt as free as she did on her mower. Millie was devoted to the church throughout the years, where she is remembered for the cakes she loved to bake- especially her rum cake and pea pickin' cakes!
To Millie, Heaven has flowers and a zero-turn mower!
She was love by all who knew her. We will miss her dearly.
The interment will be Oct. 14th at the Hatchbend Baptist Church cemetery.
