Michael Nordquest was the best of us. Of my grandmother’s 13 grandchildren he always had the biggest personality, the most genuine and heartfelt “I love you”’s, the absolutely greatest bear hugs. He didn’t grow up close to the rest of, geographically, but his heart was so full of love for all of us, always. I never heard him speak a bad word about anyone (I mean I’m sure he did, we all do - but it was rare for Mike). I will always cherish the way his face lit up with his great big smile every time we were able to see each other, the little kid he was on my 3 week visit with his family in Texas way back when I was in high school, the preteen I went fishing with and to the beach with (and with Matthew) in Florida, the charismatic and enthusiastic and fun sailor who came from California to be at my wedding, the wonderful dad he became to his own sweet babies.
