Obituary of Agnes Rose Starr
Agnes Rose Batusich Stefanich Gilson Starr of Palm Bay, FL passed away on June 18, 2022 at age 100 at Hibiscus Assisted Living in Melbourne, Florida. Agnes was born January 5,1922 in Joliet, IL and attended Cheney School (Crest Hill) where she was an outstanding scholar and basketball player. Agnes was a housewife, dental assistant, elementary school teacher (St. Joseph Parish school in Palm Bay, FL) and owned and taught at her own preschool -"Little Scholars" in Palm Bay, Florida. Agnes was a member of St. Mary Nativity Church in Joliet for many years before moving to FL where she attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palm Bay. She was an avid flower gardener and loved to work keeping her home and yard looking beautiful. In her younger years she enjoyed music, ballroom dancing, bowling and rarely ever missed the Lawrence Welk TV show. She became a fan of watching professional golf especially her favorites Phil and Rory. She also loved spending time with her family and travelling.
Agnes was preceded in passing by her parents, John and Antonia Batusich; Husbands, Matthew Stefanich (1957) Kenneth Gilson (1966) and Gene Starr (1999); sisters, Betty Fier, Catherine Jankovich, Frances Tomac, Matilda Marketti and brother, John Batusich.
Surviving relatives include sons, Richard (Myra) Stefanich of Evansville, IN and Frederick (Janelle) Gilson of Boise, ID; six grandchildren, Matthew (Heidi) Stefanich (Beulah, WY), David (Carole) Stefanich (Scottsdale AZ), Rick ( Kelly) Stefanich (Sellersburg, IN), Laura (Travis) Stefanich Gray (Ashville, OH), Kenneth Gilson (Boise, ID) and Maggie Gilson (Boise, ID); as well as 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family graveside funeral services will be at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill, IL on July 7, 2022. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Chuch, 706 N.
