Obituary of Emily Brooke Dorough
Emily Brooke Dorough, 42, of West Melbourne, FL, passed away unexpectedly on May 04, 2022 at her residence.
Brooke was born in Waycross, GA to John and Kathryn Dorough on October 06, 1979. She was a member of Waycross First United Methodist Church and a 2001 graduate of Ware County High School. Upon graduation, Brooke went to work at Satilla Community Services Adult Day Training program where she learned to work and interact within the community. She enjoyed many outdoor activities with her family, such as archery, golf and tennis. She also enjoyed many years of playing baseball with her friends at the Miracle League of the Okefenokee.
Brooke moved to Melbourne, FL in 2012. She became a resident of Promise in Brevard and employed at Brevard Achievement Center. Brooke loved her job. She adored her teachers and coworkers and found pleasure in volunteering both at the Sharing Center and Wuesthoff Medical Center. Brooke attended Special Gatherings Church and The Harbor at Calvary Chapel of Melbourne. She was also very active in Special Olympics, and over the past 10 years participated in numerous events: track and field, swimming, baseball, basketball, bocce and her favorite, bowling. Her ribbon rack was completely full. Being a resident of Promise also offered her many opportunities. Besides independence, Brooke grew in relationships and her abilities. Some of her favorite things to do were exercise, cooking and art classes, activity nights, dances, karaoke, and outings with her friends. Of course Brooke was a friend to all with her contagious smile and sweet spirit. Always on the go and always wanting to help others, she was a true ray of sunshine!
Brooke is survived by her sister Kathryn Leigh Vinke; brothers-in-law Glen Alan Vinke and Talmadge Matthew Sanford; nieces and nephew Hannah Kathryn Vinke, Isaac Alan Vinke, Madison Bennett MacDonald (Michael), Connor Elizabeth Bennett, Darrian Evelyn Bennett; and great niece Briar Madeline MacDonald as well as, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
