Obituary of Gloria Kenworthy
Gloria Kenworthy, 78, went to her heavenly home on April 3, 2022 after battling heart and lung issues for several years.
Gloria was born on February 26, 1944 in Ocala, Florida to Murray and Martha Fugate. She is survived by her sister, Bette Forde, and predeceased by her brother, Murray E. Fugate. She graduated from Ocala High School, Central Florida Junior College and the University of Florida, majoring in Elementary Education. She met her future husband, Jack Kenworthy, at the University of Florida. Gloria and Jack resided in Brevard County for over 55 years. Together, they had 3 children: Russell (Beth) Kenworthy from Long Beach, MS; Shannon (Chris) Dexter from Melbourne, FL; and Laci (Dean) Carroll from Dublin, VA. Her grandchildren included: Jenna Carroll, Nathan Kenworthy, Josh Dexter, Dani Carroll, and Amelia Kenworthy.
Gloria taught at Tropical Elementary School in Merritt Island and Sabal Elementary School in Melbourne for a total of 20 years collectively. Her many and varied interests included reading, sewing, gardening, crafts, genealogy study, and attending multiple sporting events. She often traveled throughout the country, visiting family. She enjoyed escaping to her mountain home in Virginia since 2006. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Merritt Island, FL and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Melbourne, FL for over 55 years.
Visitation hours will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care at 1001 Hickory St., Melbourne, FL 32901.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 610 Young St. Melbourne, FL 32935 on Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Gloria will be buried at Forest Lawn Memory Garden in Ocala, FL at a later time.
