I am so incredibly sad to hear of Jim's passing. He was a good man that cared a lot for people and for his profession. I had the pleasure of working with him while at the City of Palm Bay. My best memory of him was during a contentious neighborhood meeting I had when I was the public works director. We always had police precence at our meetings, but this one in particular was rescheduled and for some reason the police was not notified of the schedule change. Before the meeting started, I was approached by a VERY "excited" resident and the lack of police precence scared me, so I politely excused myself from the "excited" resident to start calling the guys from the police department to get someone there. The first guy that answered was Jim. I explained what was going on and he said he would be right there. He got there within minutes of my call and I felt so much safer with him there. He will be missed terribly. I am sorry to find out that his service was today. I wish I knew about it. But in his honor, I plan to do a bike ride next weekend to celebrate his life and pay a tribute to him. He will be missed.

I met Jim probably 20-30 years ago . He was a was a PBPD officer when I knew him/. He ad Greg Bowden were regulars at the first kinda gym in Palm Bay (Cosmopolitian ). he anf Greg Bowden and occasionally other PBPD would be there. We always chit chatted and I always found Jim to be an upstanding and super kind person. He was full of compassion and it doesn't
surprise me he was responsible for so many outreach projects he started.
I am saddened by his death even though we hadn't seen each other in quite awhile......he made a lasting impression on me.
My deepest condolence's and prayers are with all his loved ones.
