Obituary of Virginia (Ginny) Brunes
On February 8, 2022, Virginia Lee Brunes loving wife of David Brunes for 60 years has passed away. She was born November 20, 1936, and was the oldest child of ten. Her parents were Floyd and Elizabeth Hopp. Virginia is survived by her sisters: Sally, Pat, and Karen, and brothers: Wes and Floyd. Virginia was a loving Mother to Mary Jo (Brunes) Cipolla Nannini, Mike Brunes, John Brunes, and Janette (Brunes) Tabor. Grandmother to Tony, Carly, Zoe, Erin, Mimi, David, Gage, Jackie, and Timothy. She was a great grandmother to Holly, Will, Christina, Olivia, Lily, and Tory and had many extended family and friends.
Ginny worked many different jobs throughout her career while living in Elgin, Illinois: bookkeeper, merchandise buyer, hospital operator, and Elgin city clerk. After retiring to Florida, Ginny volunteered at the Holy Name of Jesus Thrift Store where she was the bookkeeper for many years.
Ginny was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Bears Football and the Chicago Cubs Baseball teams. She could recite player statics on all the football quarterbacks and loved talking about the football games every weekend. Ginny also enjoyed reading romance novels, solving crossword puzzles, and talking on the phone to her family every day. We will all miss our daily/weekly calls to “chit chat” with her.
