Obituary of Rick (Pepe) Bienvenu

Rick (Pepe) Bienvenu passed away on February 13, 2022, near his home in Florida under hospice care. Rick was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 29, 1946, to Adine and Lawrence Bienvenu. He graduated from Hammond High School and Southeastern Louisiana University and was a proud member of the TKE fraternity.

Rick worked at Sundstrand Aviation Company in Rockford Illinois for over 37 years, therefore his fascination with anything NASA. He and the neighbors loved watching every rocket launch from the backyard of his Florida home.

He was a very proud member of the Duffers Thursday night golf league in Rockford where he was a member for over 40 years.  

Rick was married to Rosi for almost 52 years. They were married in Rockford at St. Anthony Church on June 14, 1969. Rick was very proud of his family, his daughter Danielle, granddaughter Veronika, and grandson Anthony. He loved them beyond all else. He was their Papa. Rick is survived by his sisters Eileen (Byron) Holt of Texas and Debbie (Alex) Petho of Louisiana. He is also survived by his brothers/sisters-in-law Carm and Roy Ervin of Florida and Mary Ann and John Valentine of Illinois and many great friends and neighbors in both Florida and Illinois.

Rick never met a stranger. He always managed to remember everyone’s name and even their dogs names.  In his Parkstone neighborhood in Florida, he was known as “the mayor”. He organized many parties and set up a “Parkstone” neighborhood watch program.

Rick will be greatly missed. A memorial will be held at the Parkstone Residents Center on March 11th from 3 to 5 PM at 1964 Golf Vista Blvd, Viera, FL 32955.
