Obituary of Barbara Ann DeLeau

Barbara A. DeLeau of Melbourne, Florida passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2022 at the young age of 85. She was surrounded by the love and support of her family.

Barbara grew up in Wurtsboro, NY with her eight siblings. Her brother Richard Maxwell survives her and currently resides in Florida. She graduated from Monticello High School where she met her first husband Henry Wicke. They had five children together. Her family began their adventure in the 50's on Anderson Avenue in Bronx, NY. She moved her family to Monroe, New York for a closer connection to a life filled with family and friends. The memories of our lives, these are priceless. She was remarried to Daryl DeLeau where she blended many new memories with her extended family. His passing was in 2013.

Her children from her first marriage survive her: son, Henry Wicke Jr. and wife Debrah of Rockland, NY; son Homer Wicke and wife Victoria of Enon, Ohio; daughter Barbara A. Garber and husband Paul of Mountainside, NJ; daughter Denise Nagle and husband John of Blooming Grove, NY; and son Craig Wicke and wife Sharen of Goshen, NY. She is also survived by Daryl's two daughters Louise Eaton and husband Robert of Valrico, FL and Darlene Valtinson and husband William of Springfield, OR. She was blessed with sixteen beautiful grandchildren and seven wonderful great grandchildren. With so many siblings she has also left behind many nieces and nephews that adored her.

Barbara lived in many places throughout her life and had many different career paths. Early in her life she worked in NYC with Bell Telephone as an operator. When she moved her children to Monroe, NY she held a position at the school they attended. She worked in banking in Nevada. She managed a textile company in North Carolina and when moving once again, she ran a postal store in Sebastion, Florida.

Barbara loved to travel to the National Parks with her late husband and always dreamed she would travel more with her family, her most valued treasure. Her hobbies included:sewing, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and stain glasswork. But what Barbara loved to do most was DANCE! Throughout her life she touched many different hearts with her friendly outgoing personality.

She was a very independent soul, spirited and loved by all. For all of those who touched her life, we thank you for your friendship and devotion, your love and unwavering support. Her departure from our world was so sudden and heartbreaking. She will truly be missed.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. She will be making her final journey home to Long Beach Island, NJ.
