Obituary of Melvin Lawwill

Melvin (Mel) Lawwill, 86, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born on February 28, 1935, in Lexington, Kentucky. He left this world surrounded by his family on Friday, January 7, 2022, in Cocoa, FL. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Sandy, his daughter Lisa, son Chuck, and granddaughter Kayla. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.

Mel was a quiet, contemplative man who cared deeply for his family and friends around him. He was passionate about woodworking and his love of animals. He was the supervisor at Dixie Concrete, in Cocoa, for 17 years. Despite a busy work schedule, he and Sandy built their own home by hand, together. He was an active member of Cocoa Moose Lodge 1717 for 37 years. During that time, he held the office of Governor of the Lodge, Moose of the Year, and was awarded the Fellowship Degree.
