Obituary of Beverly Gertzen
In Loving Memory of our Mom
Beverly Gertzen
Born November 3rd, 1941 in Atlantic City, NJ, to Joseph and Kathleen Gertzen. Beverly passed away on December 20th, 2021 from complications of leukemia. She was 80 years old and a resident of Melbourne, Florida.
Beverly loved life and had one filled with faith, family, friends and adventures near and far. She worked hard, first at her family’s beachside business, The Elephant Hotel in Margate, NJ, then in the service industry and finally in the healthcare industry as a CNA and in-home caregiver.
She devoted much love, time and effort into raising a family and running a household. Overcoming life’s many challenges, as her cousin recently said of her, with determination and a smile on her face.
Easy to love and hard to forget, Beverly Gertzen was a kind woman with a quick wit and easygoing personality. She loved her family dearly and maintained close relationships with many people. She had a gift for poetry and a love for nature’s beauty and simple things. Beverly kept her sense of humor, her stoic nature and her humility to the very end. Her most memorable trait was her love of Jehovah.
Preceded in death by her sisters, Carolee (Gertzen) McCardell, Joanne (Gertzen) Nation, her brother Joseph Gertzen and her grandson Elliot.
She is survived by her children: Linda Dennis Speelman (Dan), Adam Dennis and Joseph Derek Gertzen (Mandy), grandchildren: Jeremy, Alex, Hudson, Emma and India, great-grandchildren: Zora and Julian and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
We will miss you, Mom.
A private memorial service will be held, via zoom on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
