Obituary of Diane (Mitchell) Protos

Diane (Mitchell) Protos, 76, received her heavenly body on October 7, 2021, after a long 6-year battle with cancer. She went home to join loved ones who preceded her in death, parents: M. Wright (Mitch) and Olive Mitchell; sister: Joyce (Mitchell) Clark; sons: Douglas Paul Westfall (infant) and Jeffrey Allyn Westfall; great-grandaughter: Avery Veronica Nanna (infant).

Diane is survived by, her husband of 38 years, William Protos; brothers: Maynard Mitchell (Barbara), Milton Mitchell (Patricia), Mark Mitchell (Sandra); children: Alisha (Westfall) Marek (Roger), Kara (Westfall) Bellavigna (Domenick); grandchildren: Aaron Marek, Lindsey (Marek) Nanna (Matt), Logan Westfall, Abigail Westfall, Alex Bellavigna, Quinntin Bellavigna (Zoe), Ethan Bellavigna, Annastasia Bellavigna.

Diane was born in Troy, OH, and was a resident for 46 years. She spent the remainder of her life in Palm Bay, FL. After becoming a mother, she devoted her early life in raising her children who rose up to call her blessed. Later she worked in the medical field as an EEG/EKG technician and as a medical transcriptionist. Diane had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed playing the guitar by ear. She enjoyed her many pet chihuahuas through the years and is survived by her beloved Tinker. Other hobbies included crocheting, writing poetry, and sharing her contagious laugh with family and friends, especially her life-long Card Club gals.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, she gave the assurance to all who loved her the gift of knowing where she is spending eternity. Since she was instrumental in leading her children and husband to the knowledge of the saving grace of Christ Jesus, we are comforted in knowing our reunion with her is steadfast. "Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8
