Obituary of Mary S. Baumbach

Mary Scheurwater Baumbach passed away on August 26, 2021, at the age of 72, after a year-long illness. Mary was born in Kalamazoo, MI on June 27, 1949. At birth, Mary’s name was Emma May Gladys Van Meter. She was adopted at age 8 by Garrett and Ruth Scheurwater, who have both preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her husband, Leslie M. Baumbach of Palm Bay. They were married 45 years.

Mary’s natural father, Floyd C. Van Meter, and her mother, Gladys E. Van Meter, have also preceded her in death. She also has (had) six brothers and four sisters – Vester Van Meter, Robert Van Meter, Ronald Van Meter, Clarence Van Meter, Floyd (Jr.) Van Meter, Jimmy Van Meter, Barbara (Van Meter) Rice, Francis (Van Meter) Hough Donna (Van Meter) DeWalt, and Nancy (Van Meter), all of Michigan or Ohio.

Mary enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading, and also day trips around Florida. Earlier in life, Mary cleaned houses and also worked at Ringhaver Equipment Company. She knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. A funeral service is planned for Friday, September 17 at 2 pm, at Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Rd SE, Palm Bay.
