Dearest Jim and family, my heartfelt condolence for the loss of your loved one. I personally have never met Jan, but I have kown Jim for the past 22 years and have heard just about every story concerning Jan. So, by proxy I knew her well; I have heard about their vactions, their work, their retirement, their fishing adventures, their family dilemmas, their health issues thoughout the years, their house building escapades and unfortunately lately about Jan's illness. In all the years of knowing Jim he never had a sour story to tell about Jan, "That's Love". Though words of encouragment can only go so far; my dear friend I am here if ever you need to talk.

Sue and I have known Jan for most of twenty-eight years. With Jan and Jim, we've broken bread together many times in many cities. We slept under the same roof, shared holidays with members of our respective families, had the privilege of meeting Deanna and David (though we've not met Bryan) and Rob and Barb. We've watched fireworks over the Indian River, suffered red tide in Sarasota and gotten lost in the wilds of Arkansas...and shared Black Friday shopping sprees.
Jan and Sue are about all things that grow in dirt and bloom. Jan is the clear champion in the orchid category. Sue holds her own with succulents. Jan is a master at the one armed bandit, just ask the folks in Tunica, Vegas and the Hard Rock Cafe. We've enjoyed Jan and Jim's recounting of fabulous cruises, not to mention the occasional story about objects undeclared to US Customs. Jan never failed to remember a birthday or holiday greeting for us, our daughter and grandchildren. I cannot imagine a rescue dog more cherished than Sadie.
Jan's kindness, good spirit, respect for others and pure giving nature are rarely encountered in such abundance in one individual. Jan has been a part of our lives and we are better for it. We will never forget Jan and we will remember her forever. Our lives are enriched because Jan has been part of it.
Miss you!

I miss my sister-in-law Jan so much! We were kindred plants souls. Every time I would visit Jim and Jan from Michigan, Jan would give me a tour of all her plants - inside and out! If I was lucky, she would give me a cutting or two. The picture I attached are of two orchids she gave me from her plants. I will treasure them! Jan was always so wonderful and thoughtful to my kids and myself. Whenever she was on a cruise or a trip, she would buy us a little something, then package it up and ship to us! We loved our little gifts! Jan was always the perfect hostess - never letting me help - even after several offers to do so. I loved her smile and enjoyed her sense of humor. She got a kick out of my son, Michael, during one visit. She would just laugh and laugh at his antics. Yes, Jan, you are sorely missed, but memories of my time with you will last forever!
I love and miss you!

Mom was always up for a laugh. One time when she came to visit me in St. Pete, I had signed us up for a Painting With a Twist-type class. The instructor had everyone channel their "inner Dali" by painting a mustache on their partner's face. We won for having the best mustaches.
