Marlowe “Sonny” Eitel

Sonny Eitel, 83, of Melbourne, FL passed away peacefully at home on 07/31/2021. 

He was born in Wells, MN on 06/16/1938 but was a long-time resident of Melbourne and graduated from Melbourne High School in 1956. 

Sonny proudly served in the National Guard until November 1957 and the U.S. Army Reserves through May 1964.

Sonny had a long career in electronics at Radiation, Harris Corporation, Documation and retired in 2007 after 21 years with Brevard County Schools as a supervisor in Technology Services.

He enjoyed watching football, taking trips anywhere, and his independence. His family was his pride and joy.

Sonny is predeceased by his mother, Dorothy, and step-father Kenneth Maxwell; and father Raymond Eitel.  Sonny was also predeceased by his wife, Isabel “Lee” in 1972 and in 2012 of his second wife, Carole.  His daughter, Lori Lea Vermillion also predeceased Sonny.

Sonny is survived by his sons, Todd Eitel(Janis), Don Eitel(Melanie) and daughter Debbie Hines(Brian), his sisters, Donna Rothery(Frank), Marlene Frye(Ron), brothers, Larry Eitel(Sue), Darryl Eitel(Sherry); 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-grandchild.

Services will be held Sunday, October 17th, 1 pm at Ammen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Hickory St, Melbourne, FL  32901.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the William Childs Hospice House, 381 Medplex Pkwy, Palm Bay, FL  32907.
