Obituary of Larry "Cap" Moran
Larry “Cap” Moran passed away peacefully in his home in Micco, Florida on Friday, June 25, 2021 after a brief stay at Life Care Center in Palm Bay, FL.
Cap was born July 21, 1941 in Elizabethtown, NY and grew up in Schenectady, NY. Cap was drafted into the US Army where he served his country for three years in Vietnam and three years stateside in the transportation division, when he was honorably discharged in November of 1969. After his military service Cap went to business school and secured a job in the manufacturing industry where he enjoyed a long career as a manager in various companies such as Johnson and Johnson, Brunswick Golf, and Seitz Corporation. Cap transitioned to being a school bus driver in his later career. He loved driving through the hills of Cromwell, CT and was loved by the children and families he drove for.
Cap lived his entire adult life in Litchfield County CT, and recently moved to Micco, Florida permanently. Cap was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and New York Yankees fan. Learning to hunt from his beloved “Gaga”, and later teaching his step son and last hunting partner. Cap loved the Adirondacks in NY, having a long time camp there. Cap in later years enjoyed sitting on his porch, talking with friends and neighbors sharing his great sense of humor and wit. Everyone who knew Cap knew he loved this country and everything good it stood for. Those that loved him will remember his twinkling blue eyes and mischievous grin as well as his deep love for his wife and family.
Cap leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, this June 29th, Verna A. Moran (Morin), his daughter Melissa Moran of Scotia, NY, his step-children, Lisa Salonich of Webster, MA, and Kenneth Roussel of Pulaski, NY, his grandchildren Nathan Samek (wife Kristina) and Brandon Samek of Scotia, NY, Andrew, Collin and Emily Salonich of Webster, MA, his great-grandchildren Dylan and Jacob Samek, his brothers Mike Moran (wife Barbara), John Moran (wife Sandra), his sister-in-law Karen Moran, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Rino & Claudette Morin, Louis & Jeanine Morin and Mother-in-las Laurette Morin, Father-in-law Ludger Morin & Step-mother in -law Jeanne Morin as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cap is predeceased by his oldest brother Douglas Moran, his parents Violet Mae (Talbot) Moran and John Moran, his nephew Guy Moran, and daughter-in-law Migdalia (Meg) Roussel his brothers-in-law and their wives Rino (Claudette) Morin, Louis (Jeanine) Morin; mother-in-law Laurette Morin, father in law Ludger and stepmother in law Jeanne Morin.
There will be a Memorial Service held to celebrate Cap’s life on October 10, 2021, in Micco Florida. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to VITAS Hospice of Palm Bay
