Obituary of Robert Stephen Thaggard

Robert Stephen Thaggard, 77, passed away peacefully in his home in West Melbourne, FL on June 4, 2021 surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Fayetteville NC, April 10, 1944 to Doris and Robert Stephen Thaggard, Sr.

Robert graduated from North Carolina State University. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired after 21 years as Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy. Robert continued his engineering career at Northrup Grumman over the next 16 years until retirement. 

Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Claudia McDaniel Thaggard, his brother, Michael Rule, his 4 children: Debra Thaggard, Stephen (Karen) Thaggard, John David (Cindy) Thaggard, and Claudia (Patrick) Murphy. He had 10 grandchildren: Jessica (Duane), Ryan (Jasmina), Stephanie (Jeremy), Annie, Blake, Melanie (Kyle), Mindi, Brandi, Wyatt, Logan and 3 great grandchildren: Joshua, Dylan and Bayleigh.  He was an honorable leader, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He will be missed.

Robert’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Ammen Family Funeral Care at 1001 Hickory Street, Melbourne FL 32901. Service will start at 1:00 pm and reception to follow.
