Coach Moore made Varsity volleyball more than a competitive sport. He made it fun. He never got mad at us (and when he WOULD raise his voice, we couldn't help but chuckle). Because nothing but kindness and passion emitted from this man, and that's all we felt from him. He was my favorite memory from that time, and after 13 years, I still miss him. My Daughter Emily Schlierf played 4 years varsity volleyball with Coach Moore. 2 moments stand out for me as a volleyball parent. He took the team to UF Emily’s freshman year to hear Mary Wise speak to them and to see the campus. Emily left saying she’s wants to be a Florida Gator. A very high goal that she reached through that initial moment of inspiration provide by Wayne. The second was that he made her switch from her favorite position of middle blocker to team setter for an entire season for the good of the team. An incredible life lesson in team work. I thanked him several times for these and other teachable moments that he gave her. I wonder how many of his students and athletes like my Emily found inspiration and learned skills that have served them well due to his leadership.
