Obituary of James Vance Parker

James Vance Parker, JV, was a devoted husband, father, and brother. Married 36 years, he and his beautiful wife, Kelly, raised two sons in Palm City, Florida. Tyler and Ryan were JV’s pride and joy. He was so proud of the men his boys had become. He is also survived by his loving sister, Penni.

JV had been diagnosed with a deteriorating lung condition and a double lung transplant was the best option to give him a second chance at life. His transplant on March 18 resulted in an infection in the hospital that led to his unexpected passing. He was surrounded by family when he passed on April 6, 2021 and was a young 57 years old.

JV was highly respected and had a stellar reputation in the home building and construction, plans examining, and inspection industry. He was the “go-to guy” because of his extensive knowledge, attention to detail, and his continual education to add additional licensures to his repertoire. No challenge or problem was too big for JV – “he could do everything.”

As wonderful and hardworking as he was at work, it was his family that took priority. Charismatic, funny, and selfless, he was a very present dad and husband. He instilled in his family the importance of respect and he led by example. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was playful in nature. In fact, the day of his surgery when Kelly was completing hospital paperwork, he “disappeared” behind a pole. A moment of panic at having lost her husband was followed with laughter by JV and his surgeon.

Favorite past-times included fishing at the park, gaming competitions (when the boys were younger), golfing and just getting in the car and driving. Family dinners were a special time, especially when he was grill master. Their home was well stocked with love – and candy! JV was never without candy, a true lover of all things sweet. Also sweet were their regular visits with his extended family. His sister Penni and her family loved going to visit JV and Kelly. In fact, the kids were so excited to be “going to the zoo-house!”  The Parkers always had a variety of animals; dogs, cats, ferrets, snakes and even flying squirrels. More recently, it was their two large German Shepherds that brought JV much joy. Holidays were usually spent with his family, his sister’s family, and his Dad in Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his Dad, Glenn Parker, less than a year ago, and his mother Sue Parker.

In lieu of flowers, donations in JV’s honor can be made through GoFundMe – Financial Recovery for James Parker’s family.
