Marilyn and I were born five years apart. There are pros and cons in having an older sister. During the school year, we were never in the same building at the same time, because of our age difference. If I had a question about my homework, Marilyn was able to help. Although she excelled in math and social studies, she was excellent in all subject areas. In high school, she was a member of the high school girls’ powder puff football team. She played tennis and participated in school sponsored clubs.
Marilyn began college at Abilene Christian University. After a semester, she transferred to Texas Tech University where she obtained her bachelors and special education degrees. She went on to earn her masters and education administration certificate. She then began working on her doctorates degree. She met and married Earl Masdon at Tech.
After graduating, Earl joined the Army. They were transferred to California, then the Army transferred them to Greece.
When they returned to the United States, they began traveling during their vacation time from work. With the exception of Vermont and Alaska, they traveled to every state. They visited most of the national parks.
Marilyn and I spoke almost every night. I miss those calls.
