Obituary of Viola May Pace
On Wednesday July 29, 2020 Viola May Pace, Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Entered painlessly and Peacefully into her Eternal rest at the Palm Bay Florida home of her Daughter and Son-in-law Martha and Mark Lyons at the age of 89.
Viola was born in Clawson, Michigan at 4:45 a.m. on August 17, 1930 to Clayton John Cork and Mabel Kathleen Patterson. Viola grew up in Pontiac and Keego Harbor Michigan where she met Hobart William Pace Sr. After dating they briefly broke up because of the age difference, she was 26 and he was 42. It didn’t take that long to decide they couldn’t live without each other so they eloped and Were married at the Courthouse in Toledo, Ohio on October 2, 1956.
Viola and Hobart settled in Waterford, Michigan in the home that Hobart, who was a carpenter built for them. They went on to have seven children. After the children were older, Viola started working at K-Mart in Waterford, Michigan where she worked for several years. The family decided to Move to Florida so she transferred to a K-Mart in Melbourne, where she continued to work till she retired.
After retiring, she sold her home and moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she resided for approximately 20 years. Her health began to fail and she was brought back to Florida where she was lovingly taken care of by her daughter Martha Lyons.
Viola was a beautiful Godly woman who loved the Lord. She attended West Rock Church in Hattiesburg under Pastor Roy Craft where she had many friends and was well loved by all.
Viola loved to read and crochet. She liked to go camping and went often when her children were young. She always liked going for long drives and would take her mother Grandma Cork with her. She loved McDonalds Hamburgers and french fries also scrambled eggs and she especially loved her coffee.
Daughter Martha remembers how when they were kids and did something that they knew they were going to get a spanking for would say that they were going to run away. Viola would say, “Go Ahead, you’ll get hungry and come home!!!” “Do you want me to help you pack?” “ I can help you pack!!!”
Viola was preceded in death by father Clayton Cork, mother Mabel Cork, husband Hobart William Pace Sr. daughter Rebekah Corley, son David Pace, daughter Elizabeth Powers, Granddaughter Beth Ann Marshall, Great Granddaughter, Kahlan Alanna Moran and Great Grandson, Cody Dawson Mixon Sadly, before this obituary was made public, her oldest child Hobart William Pace Jr. passed away.
She is survived by her son James (Vickie) Pace, son, Joseph Pace, daughter, Martha (Mark) Lyons and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Viola always had a kind word to say about everybody and she loved her family and friends with all her Heart!!! She was greatly loved as well and is missed so very much!!!
Her greatest desire was that all of her family would be saved and serve God so they could make it to heaven.
There was no Funeral service for Viola who was cremated at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care. The Family plans a memorial service for which a date has not yet been determined.
