Obituary of Scott Rodgers Brown

Scott Rodgers Brown, age 71 of Palm Bay, FL passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Orlando VA Medical Center at Lake Nona, FL. He died of complications after a major aortic replacement operation. The ICU staff went above and beyond and the family is most grateful.

He was born in Pawnee City, NE on August 20, 1949, son of Bob Burton and Evelyn Louise (Rodgers) Brown. He attended Randall Elementary School in Madison, WI and graduated high school from P. K. Yonge Developmental Research School in Gainesville, FL in 1967.

While in the U.S. Military, Scott had a near death experience and since then he just “knew” things.  Not just things about people and events but how things worked… not just basic things like plumbing but the most obscure complicated things. Of course this event changed the course of his life… everyday life events became almost trifling matters. He was a most unusual man.

Drinking beer and shooting pool was how he spent his youth in Gainesville. In his heyday he managed restaurants. But mostly Scott went fishing and learned many a trade job… as needed. He loved animals and leaves behind his three miniature dachshunds, Smiley and the two Moon girls.

In addition to his parents Scott was preceded in death by his kind and loving sister Tandel Lindsey of Portland, ME.

He is survived by his children Michael and Nicole; sister Deborah Cox and husband Ken of Cocoa, FL; sister Michel Brown of Gray, ME; and many beautiful nieces and nephews and their families.

Eventually Scott’s ashes will be laid to rest in Nemaha, NE with his Brown ancestors.
