Obituary of David Ross Covert

David “Dave” Ross Covert, age 83 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October, 6, 2020 at Hospice of Health First, Cape Canaveral. He was born August 4, 1937 in Newell, WV and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio to Howard and Doris (Bossen) Covert.

After high school, Dave’s love of airplanes “propelled” him to join the Air Force. Following his active duty, he continued his service in the Air Force Reserves. His next adventure would find him continuing that grand aeronautical service by contributing to the Space Shuttle Program.

Dave loved and was proud of his family, time in the military and contributions he made to the space flight program. In his down time, he enjoyed reading and carpentry.

Dave is remembered with love by his wife of 38 years, Carol; his daughter Danielle (Tony) Simon; his step children, Robert G. Williams, Jr., Debra J. Saylor, Karen (Ken) Crawford; and his nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Danielle), Zachary, Jacob and Jackson Simon; Jordan (Caitlyn), Tucker (Haley), Casey and Britt Crawford; and Bailey Williams. He is fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and many good friends. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Bernice (Alexander) and Gene Covert.
