Obituary of John E. Davis
John E. Davis, 85, passed away on July 14, 2020 in Palm Bay, FL. He was born in Gloucester, MA on September 5, 1934 to Walter and Helen Davis, both of whom preceded him in death. John went to Gloucester High School and graduated from class of 1952.
John worked 37 years as a Right of way manager for New England Tel. Co. in the engineer office. In addition, he coached the little leagues for 10 years, managed the Red Sox and won back to back World Series in 1969 & 1970. He moved to Fla. in 1990, and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbia Council #7408 – charter member of the Elks, #1744 in Melbourne, Fla., member of St. Vincent de Paul for over 10 years. He loved to play golf with his buddies. He & Helen traveled a lot and he loved his pool. He spent a lot of time at the Senior Center playing bridge – really enjoyed it.
John survived his wife of 62 years, Helen M. (Silveira) Davis; sons, Michael & Judi (Fox) of Middleton, MA., Steven & Robin (Interante) and Christopher & Mimi from Jackson; grandchildren, Alexander, Davis, Alton from New Hampshire, MA., Faustina Eliuk from, Peabody, MA., Steven Davis Jr., Olivia Davis and Hayley Davis from Gloucester, MA.; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Brett Eliuk from Peabody, MA.
He preceded in death by his brother, Owen and sister, Madelyn.
