Obituary of Olga Azzara
Olga Azzara (nee DiNello), age 91, of Melbourne, Florida (formerly of St. James, Long Island), died Monday afternoon, July 6, 2020.
Born August 26, 1929, in Corona, New York, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale DiNello and Maria Stella (nee Pompeo) and wife of the late Anthony J. Azzara. Olga was a longtime New York City resident, growing up in Queens, when she met the love of her life, Anthony, while working in the fine jewelry department at B. Altman department store in New York City. She and Tony married in 1953 and settled in Long Island in Port Jefferson and later in St. James, and then relocated to Florida in 2006.
Olga was an exceptionally talented homemaker, who could always be found cooking, baking, crafting or writing notes and letters of correspondence to extended family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.
Olga is survived by her four children; Anthony J. (Sherry) of Jupiter, Florida, Patrick J. of Manhattan, New York, Joseph M. (Barbara) Azzara of Princeton, New Jersey and Carol Ann (Bob) Eberhardt of Palm Bay, Florida; her 4 grandchildren, Ronald N. (Victoria) D’Amico, Michael J. Azzara, John T. Azzara, and Stephanie T. D’Amico; and brother-in-law Salvatore Azzara of Chestnut Ridge, New York, along with many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ida Lombardi.
Due to the COVID public health emergency, visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on July 14, 2020 at the Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay FL 32907, followed by a Catholic Prayer Service, at 11:00 am. Burial services will be privately held for family following the funeral services at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
