Obituary of Jason Herndon

Jason Turam Herndon was born in Kokopo, Papua New Guinea on February 5, 1979 to Steven and Barbara Herndon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steven P. Herndon and brother, Nathan K. Herndon.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Herndon; his four children Faith, Emily, Steven, Katelyn, his ex-wife Rachael Herndon and his two nieces; Hannah and Hailey Herndon, Nathan’s children.

Jason worked in construction his entire life. He loved the outdoors, going to the beach, surfing, riding his four-wheeler and most of all spending time with his children. The last two and a half years of his life, he was dealing with MRSA and avascular necrosis, which destroyed his hip. He spent months in the hospital and finally got a new hip in June 2019.  He was recovering well, but the Lord had other plans and welcomed Jason home on March 8, 2020.

He was a wonderful, caring son and father who loved his children more than life itself.  His family and friends will miss him greatly.  He may not be with us physically, but he will always live in our hearts.

We will be celebrating his life on July 26, 2020 at the Front Street Civic Center starting at 5:30 p.m. Due to the Covid 19 virus; we will be requiring all to wear facemasks.
