Obituary of Murriel June Brown
Murriel June Brown passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the age of 95, with her family by her side.
She was born in White Bear Lake, MN on November 13, 1924 to Elsie Pesha Krasky and William Krasky. Elsie died when the children were quite young. Murriel had many colorful stories of growing up in St. Paul with her dad (who immigrated to Canada from the Ukraine) and sisters and brothers.
Murriel worked for many years as a recreational specialist at Hastings State Hospital in Hastings, MN. After, she and her husband, Ted retired they moved to Las Vegas, NV. Ted passed away in 1992. Murriel continued living there until she moved to Rockledge, FL to be near her son and his family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Mary Kay Sykes of Rockledge, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Bill Effinger of White Beak Lake, MN; grandchildren, Laurie Tawney (Jim), Patty Mullenmaster (Bill) and Debbie Gustafson (Craig); great grandchildren, Sarah Tawney, Nicholas Tawney, Morgan Mullenmaster, Kelci Mullenmaster, Madalyn June Mullenmaster and Teddy Gustafson. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Hawkins of Viera, FL and half-brother, Bob Krasky of Vadnais Heights, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Brown; infant granddaughter, Kathy Sykes; brothers, Herb Krasky, Kenneth “Buddy” Krasky and sister, Irene Bush.
Murriel loved animals, especially dogs. Donations may be made to donor’s choice or The Safe Animal Shelter, 2913 Cty Rd. 220, Middleburg, FL 32068.
Due to Covid-19 and travel restrictions at this time, the family will gather later in Las Vegas for a Celebration of Murriel’s life.
