I knew Bob from the USAFE golf team in Europe. I made the team once in 1988, and enjoyed playing with Bob at the Berlin Country Club, where he won another USAFE Championship. I also played lots of golf with Bob at Zaragoza, as I was frequently down there from Germany. dropping bombs from my F-4 Phantom. Bob also made me a new set of golf clubs. He was a very talented person and a great warrior and American Patriot.

I worked for him from 1984-1988 at Zaragoza as the base career advisor. He was the best chief that I worked for in 21 years in the Air Force. I am sure that he is gonna be missed by everyone that worked with him. Sorry for your loss.

I only knew Robert and Helene a short while as they warmly welcomed me into their "All things French" society, but they both made a lasting impression on me. When they visited my home, and I tried so hard to speak the little French I knew, Robert taught me a phrase: "Je parle français comme une vache ivre espagnole." I laugh every time I think of it. He was so patient in teaching me the words and laughing loudly when I succeded! Thank you, Robert, and thank you, Helene! I will be praying for you both in the Divine Mercy Chaplet. God bless you, Helene and family, and may the angels be his guide and bring him into Paradise.

Growing up In Ewa Beach a couple houses from the Rodrigues home, I have fond memories of sitting around the dinner table listening to stories and laughing. I also remember riding in the red Volkswagen beetle bug with Mr. Rodrigues and asking him what would happen if you turned off the engine while we were going down the road, and he said let’s see. He was fun-loving, had a big heart, and his personality could fill a room with laughter and joy. I am grateful that he shared his gundule rice recipe with me several years ago, With meticulous instructions for making Sofrito. Praise God that he is up in Heaven enjoying his time with Jesus and all of those who went before him.

Though I only had the pleasure of being around Bob a few times, he made it known quickly what a lover of life he was! A great memory is when my family visited them at their Melbourne home about 2010, and they welcomed us wholeheartedly and served a feast of Paella! Bob always had a good story and a infectious laugh. I’m keeping his family in my prayers. RIP Bob and enjoy that big golf course in the sky!
