Obituary of Mary Althar
Mary ‘Marie’ Althar, age 96 of West Melbourne, Fl, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2020 with her loving husband Cline by her side and holding her hand.
She was born in Jackson County, WV to the late Cadmus and Osa Parrish on April 17, 1924.
Marie, as known by all her friends and family, is survived by her husband, of nearly 76 years, Cline D. Althar who affectionately referred to his wife as “Shorty” and “The Boss”. Together they had three daughters, Mary Sue Neville, Linda Evans, and Peggy (Glynn) Ridenour; Six grandchildren Rob, Dave, Shane, Kim, Julie and Todd; 14 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Marie enjoyed many things in her long life, including her dear poodle, Jeannie; showing her horse, Midnight, as a member of the Trail Riders Club; touring clubs and rallies in their airstream camper as a member of the Good Sam RV Club; and was a member of the Moose Club. She traveled overseas to visit her daughters and their military families.
Later in life, she would obtain her GED, become a CNA and was a volunteer school nurse at Meadowlane Elementary School.
She took so much joy in hosting family Christmas gatherings and took pride in tending to her beautiful roses. She was a loyal viewer of her shows, and an avid NASCAR fan. Throughout it all, her husband Cline was by her side.
God looked around his rose garden and he found an empty place,
he then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you
and lifted you to rest, God’s garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
