I am so sorry for your loss, Uncle Charlie. Although I did not have the pleasure to meet your mother she must have been wonderful to have raised a son like you. When you suffer a loss it is easy to dwell on the sadness. I wish for you to cherish the memories that you have made with your mother and find some small comfort with them.

A couple of years ago this breath of fresh air bounced through our front door, spent a couple of hours with us, told some jokes, made us laugh and left a lasting impression when she left. We were blessed to have made Linda’s acquaintance and to have been reminded that there are people in this world who go about their business spreading happiness and fun without expecting anything in return. Charlie, your Mom was one of those people, just remembering her visit with us brings a smile to my face. Mike and I will always remember her; and yes, we are glad we got to meet her. Now Linda, be like the lovely butterfly, and now that winter’s long day is done, unfold your wings and go dancing in the sun. Be strong Charlie and Darlene. We love you.

Momma L:
I found the beautiful note you left. It was such a moving and inspirational message. It amazes me though, how you knew you were ready to go, yet you let us keep fighting to keep you with here with us. How generous you were. I guess you knew we’d find a way to accept it and eventually, a way to let you go. I thank you, Momma L for embracing me as your own. When my mom passed I’ll not ever forget you taking me aside and telling me that although no one could ever replace my mom, that you’d be honored to be a second mom to me. It brought me such comfort. I’ll forever be grateful for that. I tried hard to make you proud, to make you feel loved and appreciated and in the end, comfortable and at peace. You were indeed appreciated and more for you were kind, loving, generous, compassionate, a honest to goodness, joy. Thank you for welcoming me into your family, into your home. Before you passed you asked me to not ever let anything “happen” to your son (Orphan,as you so affectctionally called him) and I. I won’t. And of course, as you asked, I will ALWAYS think of you when I eat spaghetti. I love you Momma L. Rest easy. Soar with the angels and the choirs in heaven. You were a blessing, an honest to God, blessing. Your forever daughter, Darlene xo

Grandma,
Not a day has passed that I have not thought about you and missed you! I will never forget you and what a fun loving selfless person you were! There are so many people who’s life you made better with your jokes and contagious uplifting spirit! I am so lucky to have had such an amazing grandma and great grandma to my kids! They love “mommy’s grandma” and I am thankful for the time you had with us! Be in peace grandma! I love you and always will!
