I met Lee and his father when I first started flying at the Cocoa IRKS RC field. It was nice to see father and son doing something fun together, and them being together was a constant on my next few visits. Then life got in the way for me, but I could always count on Lee being a fixture at the field every time I was able to fly for the next two years.
With Lee, the RC flying activity was sort of a team effort. He was always willing to ask for, and more importantly for me, offer help with field equipment or airplane issues. On two occasions, I brought out a plane that required a starter, and because mine was lacking in power to start the big engine Lee offered me his.
I could tell he was an engineer and a tinkerer at heart because he always seemed to have the most complex aircraft at the field (inverted four-stroke engines, retracts, etc.).
I’ll miss him next time I make it out there, and will be sure to replace my cruddy starter since he won’t be there to help me.
It was nice knowing you Lee.

Donald and I played together when he visited his grandparents. We had just started to rekindle our old friendship when he recently moved to Polk County. I may not have known him as well as so many of you but I miss him the same.
