Obituary of Walter William Davenport
Walter William Davenport of Palm Bay, Florida, 89, passed away at home on December 26, 2016. Walter was born on Aug. 14, 1927,in Hicksville, NY,to William Davenport and Charlotte (Lottie) Fertsch Davenport. He attended Hicksville High School going on to serve in the US Coast Guard after which in 1951 he received a Bachelors of Chemical Engineering Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY.
He worked for General Foods Corp. before marrying Janet Elizabeth Ott in 1959 at Washington, DC. Walter worked for the US Public Health Service, Maryland; LTV Service Technology Corp. and the Planning Research Corp. both at Kennedy Space Center, FL. He was also employed by and retired from Lockheed Corp. in 1992. Predeceased by his wife Janet on Jan. 24, 1984 at Melbourne, FL.; and SisterDoris A. Love on Oct. 18, 2004. Survived by family members including niece Lynn, nephew Stephen,and cousins Howard and Richard. Walters passions included fishing for striped bass, shrimping, bowling, golf, playing piano, barber shop quartet singing, square dancing,and swimming. He was in youth interested in chemistry but in later years of his career was employed for skills in technical writing.
Internment was with his wife at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, FL. Funeral arrangements were completed through Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care, Palm Bay, FL.
