Obituary of Brian Anthony Leon
On September 15, 2018, Michigan native Brian A. Leon a Sanford, North Carolina retiree, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 68.
Born on December 11, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to parents, Herbert A. Leon and Bernice (O’Leary) Gustafson. Loving husband to Marian (Hunn) Leon; Beloved father of Brian II (Megan) Leon, Bradford (Dana) Leon and Alison (Brent) Poole. Dear grandfather of Brian III, Aiden, Lola, Addison, and Dane.
Brian was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army and proudly flew the American flag. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, an Army Commendation Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal, during his service to our country.
Preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Gustafson, sister, Dianne Klaus, and brother, Dino Leon. He is survived by his father aged 94, his wife of 44 years, children, and siblings: Gayle Clinton, Therese Hunter, Kitty Sabatine, Bridget Wilburn, Gino (Sherene) Leon, and Gia Christie; grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
Brian was one of a kind and everyone that knew him, loved him. He was a loyal friend, loved to have a good time and was the life of any party. He enjoyed playing cards, watching football, playing his computer games, and spending time with family and friends. He was admired for his kind and giving heart, often being the one that family would turn to for advice. He had a great sense of humor, and was known for his gift to gab and telling of jokes. Brian was very proud of his children and grandchildren and would brag to anyone that would listen. He will be dearly missed and always in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for November 10, 2018, 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel, with internment following. White Chapel Cemetery 621 West Long Lake Road, Troy, Michigan, 48098.
