Clara L. Ross, Palm Bay, FL and Addison, ME
Clara L. Ross, 90, died Saturday May 11, 2019 peacefully at her beloved home in Palm Bay comforted by family.
She was born November 11, 1928 in Newton, MA. The daughter of Herman R. Bjornson and Alice G. (Batson) Bjornson, Clara had a wonderful mind and a thirst for knowledge, which was evident in her many accomplishments.
She held a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami, 1967, and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Florida International University, 1987. P/D/Lt/C Clara Ross, SN was a lifetime member of the United States Power Squadron. She served as Treasurer of Biscayne Bay Power Squadron, was a past District Lieutenant Commander and Senior Navigator Instructor of the Banana River Sail and Power Squadron. She served as a Volunteer Citizens Observer Patrol (v-cop) in the city of Palm Bay for 18 years. Closest to her heart was her many years as a Girl Scout Troop Leader in Miami, FL for and with her cherished daughter Alice Mary. She was an airline Stewardess in the 1950’s. Additionally, she had a long and fulfilling career for over 20 years as an Accountant and finished her working years as a Medical Technologist.
Clara had a love for family and a passion for the Genealogy of her Batson and Bjornson lineage. She loved boating, nature, animals, traveling, and communicating with all her cherished family and friends.
Clara was predeceased by her husband of 37 years Charles J. Ross Jr., her daughter Alice Mary Johnson, 53, her parents Herman J. and Alice G. Bjornson, brothers Charles Bjornson, Richard Bjornson and sister Emma (Bunny) Cook.
She is survived by her sister Beatrice Cheyney, brother George Bjornson and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor for family and friends at the family’s summer home in Addison, Maine on Saturday July 27th at 2 pm.
