Obituary of Roy Mitchell Colvin
Roy Mitchell Colvin, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at his home in Titusville, Florida.
Roy was born on July 14, 1929 to Ray and Lizzie (Mollett) Colvin in Thealka, Kentucky. He married Patsy Puckett on May 29, 1954.
Roy M. Colvin, MSgt, USAF began his military career when he entered the United States Army in 1946 at the age of 17. In 1948 he thought maybe the military was not for him, and so resigned. However, the world was calling and in 1950 he reenlisted in the United States Air Force. His decorated military career lasted until 1970, serving in World War II as part of the Occupation Forces of Japan, and in the Korean War and the Vietnam era.
His family is grateful for his service in the United States Armed Forces. He lived honorably and established a proud legacy for his posterity. We the members of his family, thank him for the freedoms that we enjoy. He was one of the Greatest Generation and we were privileged to know him.
Following his military career, he worked as a Civil Servant and later in the Aerospace Industry.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Patsy, daughter Deeanna (William) Young, son Roy Mitchell (Natalie) Colvin II, grandchildren Josh and Brett Young; Mitchell, Hunter and Emma Colvin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Committal Services will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life in his honor will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Francis
