Obituary of Robert Lewis Norris
On Saturday the 7th of July, the states of Florida, Kentucky and the world lost a terrific man, father, and grandfather.
The second oldest of four brothers, Robert “Blind Bob” Norris was born September 12th, 1946 in Richmond, Kentucky to the late Harry and Anna Norris. He and his family flourished in very modest upbringings and lived a life very worthy of admiration.
Bob left home to graduate from Eastern Kentucky University in 1968 and then from there to serve honorably and heroically in Vietnam. Bob graduated third from Combat Leadership School and was made Sergeant of the 2nd Battalion 17th Artillery in the United States Army. During his service in Vietnam he was awarded, among other medals; The Bronze Star for Valor, The Bronze Star for Meritorious Service, The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, 2 Purple Heart Awards, and The Good Conduct Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
Bob later enriched his communities by becoming the City Manager in Richmond KY, Lake Mary FL, Neptune Beach FL, North Port FL and others. Before retiring in 2006, he settled in the lovely riverside paradise of Barefoot Bay, FL as the public Works Director. He remained there until his passing.
He is survived, remembered and loved every day by his very strong daughter Lynnsey, his son, Rob (Jenna) their child, his brother Tom (Von) and many more stretching across this country.
