Obituary of George W. Guthrie

George W. Guthrie passed away April 15, 2019 at William Chjlds Hospice Care in Melbourne, Florida. He trained as an engineer and retired from Soo Line Railroad after many years as director of corporate planning. He also taught business classes at Metro State University. George highly valued education, earning a masters degree in engineering, a masters degree in business, and a certification in accounting. However, his greatest accomplishment was raising 12 children. George is survived by his loving children, Joan Guthrie, Steve (Teresa) Guthrie, Pete (Katie) Guthrie, Kathy (Ted) Guthrie, Mike (Cheryl) Guthrie, Nancy Guthrie, George (Barbara) Guthrie, Mary Ann Guthrie, Tom (Carol) Guthrie, Terry Guthrie and Paul Guthrie; brothers, Dale and Reid Guthrie; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Guthrie. A memorial service is scheduled for 10am on Thursday, April 18 at Buena Vida Estates Chapel, 2129 W. New Haven Ave. in West Melbourne.
