Obituary of William Marvin Samples

William Marvin Samples left this world peacefully September 24th, 2018 at the Wuesthoff Hospice House, where he had been a volunteer for the past 12 years. He was 94 years old. William was born in Kirbyton, Kentucky on October 24th, 1923 to William and Marion Samples. Raised in Toledo, Ohio where he graduated from Scott High School and then served in the ETO during World War II, receiving honors and a Purple Heart. He returned to Toledo and married the love of his life, Phyllis Cotton, who has preceded him in death after 59 years of marriage. Bill spent most of his working career in the heating and air conditioning trade, including owning several small businesses where he was loved by his customers for his honesty and integrity. He and Phyllis spent the final chapters of their lives in Port St. John, FL where he continued to work and volunteer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cocoa, where he served as a Deacon. He worked for the local chapter of The Gideons International and volunteered both at Wuesthoff Hospital and the Hospice House in Rockledge. At the end, Bill was surrounded by family, friends, and associates – all who loved him dearly and will sorely miss him. He is survived by his sons, William, and his wife Kandy of Tavierner, FL and Timothy and his wife Rossina of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by two granddaughters, two grandsons, and three great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life service at First Baptist Church of Cocoa, Thursday October 4th, 2018, at 11am. Any donations should be made to Wuesthoff Hospice House, Rockledge.
