Obituary of Owen Grant Bennett

Owen Grant Bennett, age 96, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Melbourne, Florida. Owen was born on December 29, 1922 in Defiance, Ohio. He served in the 87th Infantry of the United States Army as a Private First Class during World War II. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Patricia Bennett; son, Robert Bennett; daughter and son-in-law, L. Jane and Skip Laue; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Arlen Janis; granddaughter, Niki (Rich) King, grandson, Owen M. Bellard; grandson, Daniel Janis; granddaughter, Andrea Janis; grandson, Jason (Rhonda) Rockhill; grandson, Bryce Rockhill; grandson, Jerrod Rockhill; grandson, Austin Bennett; granddaughter, Hannah Bennett; granddaughter, Ginger Bellard; granddaughter, Cinnamon Bellard; 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marguerite “Peggy” Charette. He is predeceased by his wife, Kathryn M. Bennett; daughter, Eileen Keller (nee Bennett); granddaughter, Anita Janis; grandson, John W. Bellard III; his parents, Sylvanus and Alice Bennett; and his sisters, Marian Bundschuh and Barbara Crabtree. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of his life will be held in New Mexico at a later date.
