Obituary of Benjamin “Ben” Henry Scott

Benjamin Henry Scott, age 87, of Cocoa, Florida went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Wuesthoff Hospice House in Rockledge, FL. Ben was born November 10, 1931 in De Funiak Springs, Florida to the late Lester and Alma (Infinger) Scott. Ben was the owner of Ben’s Automotive (Cocoa, FL) for 61 years. He served this community with integrity Christian values. In 1958 he and several friends started a Drive-In Worship Service at the First United Methodist Church on Forrest Ave, Cocoa, FL. It was designed for anyone who needed/wanted to worship from their cars. He left behind so many who mourn him including his loving wife of 26 years Vivian Wood Scott; daughter Deborah Lewis, son Bill Perry, brother Bill Scott (Quinlin, TX), sister Virginia Day (Westville, FL), brother Ronnie Scott (Westville, FL), beloved niece Lisa Russell (Catskill, NY). He also leaves behind grandchildren Tommy Lewis (Lechelle), Travis Perry, Madonna Nash, Angie Croom and Leigh Brannon; great grandchildren Whitney, Alesia, Brantley, Asia, Brant, Kaitlyn, Will, Tyler and Connor; great-great grandchildren Kensley and Dawson Scott. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Steve Perry. A Memorial Service will be held at The Open Door Methodist Church, 825 Forrest Ave, Cocoa, FL 32922 – The date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to “The United Methodist Women” at 825 Forrest Ave, Cocoa, FL 32922. He consistently and faithfully supported their missions and ministries. While we may grieve his passing, we are comforted that he is with the Lord he worshiped and served.
