Obituary of Linda Sanders Craig

Linda Sanders Craig, of Merritt Island, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, surrounded by her family. Linda was born in Tazewell County, Virginia on September 20, 1943. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Walter and Mary Sanders. Linda is survived by her first husband, Ronald Ducharme; husband of thirty years, James E. Craig; daughter, Suzanne Norman and son-in-law, Jeffrey; son, James Ducharme and daughter-in-law, Vickie; and step son, James M. Craig and daughter-in-law, Adriane. Linda is also survived by five grandsons, Jason Norman, Alex Ducharme, Sean Norman, Connor Craig and Mark Porwet; and granddaughter, Sabrina Shaw (Bobbie); great granddaughters, Taylor and Tawnee Shaw; and great grandson, Kolt Porwet. Linda had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who regardless of age, enjoyed “hanging out” with Nanny. She had a passion for cooking and baking that she passed on to her son and together they planned and prepared all of the special Holiday meals. She enjoyed doing table decorations to accompany her special meals. Linda loved being involved in her church, Georgianna United Methodist; serving as Recording Secretary for the Administrative Council for twenty years; Worship Committee Chairperson and United Methodist Women Treasurer. She assisted her best friend, Dodie, in planning the annual Pie and Basket auctions which provided thousands of dollars to the church for its local and global mission efforts. Linda joined the J V D’Albora Company thirty two years ago working as Book Keeper and Secretary to Mr. D’Albora. She retired two years ago due to her illness. Linda loved her home and her family. Family birthday celebrations or just simple “stop in” visits from the kids were always special. She often told her husband, Jim, that it was not only ok just to stay home together; it was the best thing to do. Jim concurred knowing that Linda was his special lady and they shared a very special love. Linda recently had the opportunity to spend more time with daughter, Susie, and was able to enjoy shopping trips and doing the other things daughters and mothers do. This relationship meant so much to Linda as her health declined. Linda felt that daughters-in-law were really daughters and her son-in-law was like a son and loved them as if they were.
