Obituary of Kathleen W. Cates

Kathleen W. Cates, age 90 of St. Cloud passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019. She was born on March 7, 1928 in Iron City, Tennessee to Proctor and Myrtle Whitten Wilson, both of whom have preceded her in death. Kathleen taught World History and Geography at Johnson Junior High for over 30 years. She loved to travel and golf with her husband James, they played on courses all over the United States and Canada. A faithful woman Kathleen was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist church for over 50 years and was always involved in church activities. A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandma. Those who will mourn her passing are her husband of 63 years, James; daughters, Dianna (Daryl) Lampert and Dorothea (Ira) Kight; six granddaughters, Kathryn (Scott) Hale, Michelle Wallace, Heather (Damon) Gomes, Mary (Chris) Kuhns, Mandy Bailey and Sarah (Mark) Thornton; 11 great-grandchildren, Blake Turner, Shane Gomes, Hunter Gomes, Cali Gomes, Eva Gomes, Brian Johnson, Launa Johnson, Greyson Bailey, Ashton Thornton, Austin Thornton, Fox Hale; sister-in-law, Erlene Wilson. She was preceded by her daughter, Nancy (Melvin) Wallace. A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 South Hickory St. Melbourne, Florida.
